Judeo brother wanted for assault
Jashpur royal Vikaramaditya Singh Judeo, younger brother of BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Ranvijay Singh Judeo, who was booked in an attempt to murder case on Monday, is yet to be arrested. Vikaramaditya had allegedly thrashed prominent Jashpur businessman Parmeshwar Gupta over a land dispute on Monday and tried to run him over with his Pajero (WB 06 C 0444).
Gupta, who also runs a school, had purchased some land from the palace in Jashpur’s Bhagalpur locality a decade ago. The registration of the plot was done two years ago. On Monday, while Gupta was at the plot, where a school is proposed to come up, Vikramaditya and his men reportedly reached the spot and asked Gupta to stop visiting the place. This started a war of words and Vikramaditya and his men allegedly beat up Gupta in public. He was immediately rushed to a Ranchi hospital where he is currently in a critical condition.
“A case under attempt to murder and other sections has been registered against Vikramaditya Singh Judeo. His vehicle has also been seized. We are trying to raid his possible hideouts and arrest him,” Jashpur SP Girjashankar Jayaswal said. Special police teams have been dispatched to Jharkhand and Orissa to nab Judeo.

Following the incident, agitated locals hit the streets, raising slogans against the royal family. They gheraoed the palace and sat on dharna. Locals said that it was the first instance that the Jashpur palace was surrounded by a mob.
The incident has created a division in the royal family. Local BJP MLA Yuddhvir Singh Judeo, son of former Union minister Dileep Singh Judeo and Vikramaditya’s cousin said: “We condemn this incident. He had left the Judeo family long ago and had no link with us.”
He threatened to launch an agitation if police did not take action against Vikramaditya.
A 2011 case of forcibly detaining minor children is already pending against Vikramaditya. He is yet to be arrested and is shown as absconding in that case.
