Pulwama encounter: NIA to probe Lethpora fidayeen attack case
National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe of the fidayeen attack on CRPF camp at Lethpora on December 31.
A group of heavily armed Jaish-e-Mohammad fidayeens had stormed the highly secured training facility of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) killing five soldiers including an officer and injuring three others in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Three-holed up fidayeens were also neutralized.
Two months on, the NIA took over the probe and re-registered the case under sections 459, 460, 307 of Ranbir Penal Code, sections 7 and 27 of Arms Act and sections 16, 18 and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
“In compliance with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India order NIA has re-registered the case.”, said an NIA officer.
This is the third terror case that has been handed over to NIA in the last 15 days.
On February 22, National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the probe of Sunjuwan Fidayeen attack case in Jammu and Kashmir. Six soldiers and one civilian were killed, and 10 others injured when Jaish-e-Mohammad fidayeens stormed the highly fortified 36 Brigade headquarters of Army at Sunjuwan in Jammu on February 10.
