No directive in my name sans validation: L-G Anil Baijal
L-G Anil Baijal has asked Delhi government secretaries and principal secretaries to validate all orders passed in his name or face action, a move that may further escalate the turf war between his office and ruling AAP.
Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash has told bureaucrats that any order issued by the AAP government in Baijal’s name will have to be approved by the officer concerned. “In many cases, orders are passed without L-G’s knowledge, it leads to confusion. The onus of passing any order now falls on the officer. If there are any discrepancies, or loss to exchequer, the officer will be bearing the loss,” said a senior Delhi government official.
In the past, the L-G office and Kejriwal’s government have been at loggerheads over issues like transfer and posting of officers, affecting governance matters in the city-state.
