UP: Speech impaired woman ‘gangraped’

An FIR has been lodged against six persons for reportedly kidnapping and raping a partially speech-impaired 35-year-old woman in Pilibhit on Saturday. The assailants also allegedly thrashed the woman when she resisted the assault. Report of the victim’s medical examination is awaited.

Circle Officer, Pilibhit, Brijveer Singh said prima facie the allegation appears to be false as police have not found any evidence. The victim is a mother of three and her husband is a daily wage labourer.

The case has been filed by the victim’s brother-in-law at the Pooranpur police station. He has named one Ishtikar and five unidentified persons of kidnapping and gangraping his sister-in-law. No arrests have been made so far. Station House Officer, Pilibhit, Dharampal Singh said Ishtikar and the victim are relatives.
