Now streaming: 100 years of Korean beauty
100 years of Korean beauty
The Cut, the site that gave us not one but two viral videos depicting iconic beauty trends in the US over the last century, is back with a mesmerising clip capturing the evolution of beauty in Korea in the last 100 years. Model Tiffany Lee is given makeovers showcasing the trends of each decade between 1910 and 2010. This latest instalment is particularly fascinating because of the schism that occurs in the 1950s, when the country split into North and South Korea. While South Korea begins to replicate Western beauty trends, North Korea’s beauty ideal becomes increasingly militant and austere. Which look do you prefer? Uploaded March 17, it’s been viewed 6.5 million times.
Uptown Funk treadmill routine
One of the hottest and catchiest numbers right now is Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk. Everyone from flight attendants to high school teachers to Michelle Obama and Ellen DeGeneres has been dancing to it. Making it even better is LA-based dancer/choreographer Carson Dean, who has filmed himself performing a dance routine to the song on a treadmill. Muscle-bound Dean pulls off all sorts of jumps, spins, kicks and even a few flips without ever losing his balance. The viral video has already racked up 6.5 million views, as well as 24,549 likes with viewers, as seen in the comments section, who are amazed at Dean’s slick moves and cool composure.
