Kerala: PC George removed as govt chief whip
Kerala Congress (M) vice-chairman P C George was on Tuesday removed from the post of Government Chief Whip.
The decision was announced by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Tuesday night after several rounds of talks with senior UDF leaders. Chandy was forced to axe George as Finance Minister KM Mani remained adamant over his demand to sack him.
The relation between Mani and George had strained over bar bribery scandal.
Chandy said, “Kerala Congress (M) has the right to withdraw its representative as the government chief whip. It is up to George whether to continue in the UDF.”
On Monday, as the standoff between Mani and George reached its climax, a letter allegedly written by solar scam accused Saritha S Nair, carrying allegations of sexual misconduct against Mani’s son and MP Jose K Mani, was aired by local TV channels.
Nair, however, said that the letter was fake. The letter she had written two years back while in judicial custody did not have the name of junior Mani.
Junior Mani on Tuesday complained to the police to probe into the conspiracy behind bringing out such a letter.
