Police said the degree student was returning to her house at Arimbur village after offering prayers at a local temple. Shibin, who had been stalking her for the last year, speedily drove the car through the narrow road and knocked down her. He then took a U-turn and hit people who had come from nearby houses to help the woman, seriously injuring four women and a man. Before escaping, ran the car into the woman.
Of the injured, three are in a critical stage.
Police said, Shibin, a student, had proposed to the woman more than a year back. But the woman’s family did not want to proceed. Subsequently, he started stalking the woman. Last April, she filed a complaint with the local police and Shibin reacted by hurling a country bomb at the woman’s house.
Although she moved another complaint, police did not act on it as Shibin apologised for his acts and pledged he would not cause any trouble in future.
