Two days later, Ram Gopal Varma apologises to Mammootty, but maintains his stand
On April 21, RGV had courted controversy when he claimed that Mammootty’s acting is less realistic than his son Dulquer Salmaan and he should rather learn that skill from him.
After being slammed, not only by the twitterati, but also, very diplomatically, by Mammootty’s son Dulquer Salmaan for his tweets against the Malayalam superstar, Ram Gopal Varma has finally apologised to the father-son duo. But this apology comes with him saying that he is “known to speak out in a certain way” and hence, people should not take offence.
Two days after his array of tweets, which he now calls “backhand compliments” for Dulquer, RGV has replied again to Dulquer’s two-day old tweet, in which he has apologised, yet maintained his stand that Salmaan was “far more superior to his father”.
He tweeted:
@dulQuer Hey I am known to speak out what I feel in a certain way of expressing my happiness and this is not the first time I did this
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) April 24, 2015
@dulQuer My tweets meant an extraordinary son of a great father nd if some morons dont understand back handed compliments I apologize 2 them
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) April 24, 2015
@dulQuer I request u to Pls explain this to ur dad and if he too is offended I apologize to him too
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) April 24, 2015
@dulQuer But I still think u are far superior 2 ur father in my honest view as a democratic free citizen of india expressing my opinion

On April 21, RGV had courted controversy when he claimed that Mammootty’s acting is less realistic than his son Dulquer Salmaan and he should rather learn that skill from him. Salmaan has been heaping praises for his performance in the recent Tamil Mani Ratnam directed movie ‘O Kadhal Kanmani’.
Mamooty should learn acting from his son..I mean realistic
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) April 21, 2015
Mamooty is a junior artiste compared to his son
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) April 21, 2015
Mamootys son will make Kerala proud In the non Kerala markets in just years which Mamooty couldn’t do for decades
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) April 21, 2015
If this wasn’t enough, he also tweeted that if the award committee members had any sense they would take back all awards of Mammootty and give it to his son.
Jst saw Mani’s film and if the award commitee members have any sense they will take back all awards of Mamooty and give it to his son
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) April 21, 2015
Since then, the filmmaker had been trolled and made fun of on Twitter for mocking a three-time National Award winner – Mammootty.
Even Dulquer Salmaan didn’t like things being said against his father and he posted a generic tweet:
In ten lifetimes I won’t be one millionth the actor my father is, no matter what I accomplish.
— dulquer salmaan (@dulQuer) April 21, 2015
RGV was further flared up with this tweet and he posted a series of tweets as replies to Salmaan.
@dulQuer well sir that might b ur perspective as a biased son but as unbiased fan I think u r in 1 life a million times ur father ever was
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) April 21, 2015
@dulQuer please ask ur own heart as an actor and forget u as his son nd be truthful to cinema
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) April 21, 2015
@dulQuer Dont b arrogant to think u knw acting better than me .u r miles above him .if u don’t believe watch his films when he was ur age
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) April 21, 2015
@dulQuer Dont let ur love for ur father cloud ur judgement ..That’s being unfair to ur fans
— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) April 21, 2015
@dulQuer As a director frm 25 years I think u r better than ur father but as actor of 1 year if u think u know better just ask me to shut up
