Endless downpour wreaks havoc in Rajasthan
Thousands of people were left stranded in several areas of Sirohi and Jalore as spell of heavy rain continued to lash the region. Angaur Dam in Sirohi was damaged due to overflowing following which the administration issued an alert. Meanwhile, tourists in Mount Abu are facing difficulty in getting transport facilities in and out of the hill station due to heavy downpour.
Mount Abu received a whooping 1,724mm rainfall in the past four days with 730mm of rains recorded in the past 24 hours. Sirohi, Jalore and Pali districts are continuously receiving heavy rainfall for the last 72 hrs causing flood-like situation in many rural areas.
Barmer district also received abnormal rainfall during the last 24 hours. The situation in Sanchore is quite grim after the town is flooded due to heavy rainfall in the area damaging Sanchore lift canal. As per water resource department report, about 75,000 people are affected in Sanchore and due to water overflowing the highway, the area has become completely disconnected from other parts of the region.
