Dog eats away parts of woman’s body in morgue
In a bizarre incident, stray dogs ate away several parts of the body of a woman that was kept in the morgue of the prestigious Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Lucknow on Saturday night. The mutilated body, with flesh strewn on the floor of the mortuary, was found on Sunday when the kin of the dead woman came to hospital to collect the body.
Two security supervisors of the mortuary, a guard and a ward boy, were terminated from the hospital by the Principal Secretary Medical Health Prashant Kumar. An FIR charging medical negligence was lodged against the duo. Medical Health Minister Dr Siddharth Nath Singh has asked for a probe.
The incident took place on Saturday after 40-year-old Pushpa Tiwari died of food poisoning at 6 pm and doctors had sent the body for an autopsy. However, it seems that the body was laid on the floor, instead of being put in the freezer.
