Farooq Abdullah, Rishi Kapoor’s remarks on POK start virtual war
The POK-for-Pakistan rant by National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah and Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor has opened a Pandora’s box in strife-torn Jammu and Kashmir.
An all-out war has broken out in the virtual world with National Conference Working President and former chief minister Omar Abdullah launching a frontal attack at Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani calling him a “hypocrite” and Kashmiri pandits digging out the roots of Rishi Kapoor.
Geelani on Sunday had strongly criticized Farooq Abdullah for his recent remarks saying “these power-hungry politicians always played deceit and these irresponsible and short-sighted people have always served the interests of their masters”.
Farooq stirred the hornet’s nest on Saturday when he said Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) belongs to Islamabad and ‘azaadi’ for Kashmir is not an option. He got support from an unexpected quarter when Kapoor tweeted backing him openly for his PoK remarks.
“Farooq Abdullah ji, Salaam! Totally agree with you, sir. J&K is ours, and PoK is theirs. This is the only way we can solve our problem. Accept it, I am 65 years old and I want to see Pakistan before I die. I want my children to see their roots. Bas karva Dijiye. Jai Mata Di!” tweeted Kapoor.
